Techno Ltd. (TL) has been advertised as having the best research and innovation (RI) department in its industry. Staff members of the RI department are constantly featured as keynote speakers at technology conferences, delivering presentations on the competitive advantage they have created for TL. The staff members of the RI department are known to be at the top of their field in research and idea generation.
The RI department’s ideas regarding production processes and product features have improved the quality and value of a few of TL’s products, but TL has struggled to implement these processes and features across all of its product lines. As a result, the performance of TL’s products does NOT always meet customer expectations.
TL fosters an environment of creativity and experimentation across all departments. In addition to the RI department, TL has administration, purchasing, manufacturing, and marketing departments. The RI department has the resources at its disposal to update TL’s technology and workforce in order to bring its competitive advantage to all of TL’s product lines. TL is looking at how to better manage the RI department in order to successfully implement its ideas across all of TL’s product lines.
