The review process for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans determines whether applicants—small businesses, by definition under $1M in annual revenues—are eligible to receive low-cost loans. Small business owners apply for loans by filling out a form and submitting it to the SBA loan division. The SBA checks (contacts by email or phone) all banking references listed in the application. The SBA also contacts all the personal references the business owner has supplied. Finally, the SBA contacts the Better Business Bureau to see if there have been any complaints against the applicant organization. When all the information has been considered, the SBA notifies the applicant of the approval or disapproval of the loan.
