Describe the single wall core barrel.
Describe the single wall core barrel.
Core barrels are the devices used for the collection of the core of the rocks drilled. These are used for retaining the rock core samples from the drilling operations. The length of the core barrels typically varies from 0.5 m to 3 m.
The single wall core barrel is the simplest form of the core barrel, which is least expensive and most rugged. The principal components of single wall core barrels are the head section, core recovery tube, reamer shell and cutting bit. The single wall core barrels are often used as a started barrel during the starting of the core operations. The single wall core barrels are designed for high quality sampling in broad formation spectrums which are suitable for a wide variety of soil. The cores can be sampled in the core barrel or directly into the liner. The sample collected can be extruded into polyethylene foil tube, plastic gutters or core boxes.
