Nitroglycerin also referred to as glyceryl trinitrate is a medication that is used for heart failure. This medication is used in conditions such as chest pain caused by angina due to  decreased flow of blood to the heart and also due to the use of cocaine. Nitroglycerin acts as a vasodilator as it dilates the coronary arteries and alleviates chest pain and pressure.
