Drugs labeled as percentage solutions often express the dosage strength in metric mea-
sures in addition to percentage strength. The lidocaine label in Figure 9-6, a 2% solu-
tion, is an example.
But directly underneath this is a "20 mg/ml" designation. Lidocaine HCl is most often
ordered in mg, but it is also used as a local anesthetic, and when it is, a physician may ask
you to prepare a volume dosage specifying % strength.
