Can somebody label mitosis and meiosis I/II in reference to whether the chromosomes are diploid or haploid?   For example, after crossing over in prophase I, will metaphase I, anaphase I, and beyond just have diploids as chromosomes?

Expert Solution
Step 1

The process through which a parent cell divides into two or more daughter cells is known as cell division. These newly developed cells could themselves further divide and grow, thus generating a new cell population .Meiosis and mitosis are the two distinct processes of cell division.

Haploid cells

Haploid cells possess just one set of chromosomes. The most prevalent kind of haploid cells are gametes, or sex cells. They are genetically varied and generated through meiosis. A diploid cell is formed during fertilization when two haploid cells from the female and male fuse together.

Diploid cells
These cells contain two chromosomal sets. It is produced when two haploid cells fuse together. The majority of animals are diploid, implying that each chromosome is found in two identical copies in each cell. They are created through mitosis. Humans have diploid cells as their somatic cells.
