At 300 K and 150 kPa conditions, A gas gives the following rapid reaction on a cylindrical solid catalyst surface. 2A(g) → 3B(g)
At 300 K and 150 kPa conditions, A gas gives the following rapid reaction on a cylindrical solid catalyst surface.
2A(g) → 3B(g)
An AB dilute gas mixture containing 0.075% A gas in moles is fed into the system. Since very little A is consumed by the reaction, the concentration of A in the bulk gas phase can be considered constant. The gaseous medium with a certain thickness above the cylinder surface is considered stagnant , and the thickness of this film layer is 0.150 mm . A molecules from the continuously fed gas diffuse towards the surface and the B gas formed as a result of the surface reaction diffuses back into the bulk gas environment . The dual diffusion coefficient at 500 K and 100 kPa conditions is 2.0 x10-5 m2/s.
