6. A turbine is fed with 5 kg/s of steam at 7 MPa. The water vapor comes from a heat exchanger that supplies it saturated at 6 MPa. The steam when passing through the turbine leaves at 0.5 MPa and 425.15 K. The exchanger is fed by cogeneration heat of 1162 kJ/s at 460°C, while the turbine gives a heat flow of 800 kJ/s at the same temperature of steam inlet to the turbine, which is used in another application in the cogeneration system: a) Raising the corresponding balances in the heat exchanger, determine the state of the working substance when leaving the equipment and the exergy destroyed in this process. b) Making the corresponding balances and admitting that the variations of kinetic and potential energy through the turbine are negligible, determine the real useful power delivered by the turbine and the exergy destroyed in the process. c) Determine the second law efficiency (II) of the turbine. d) Physically explain the usefulness of the heat exchanger based on the calculations made. Also justify according to the efficiency calculations if the process can be carried out.
