Three manholes MH1, MH2 and MH3 have been constructed along Platform 1 and
Platform 2 as shown in Figure 1. The reduced level of platform 1 is 23.500 m AOD and
it was dropped 1.0 m downward to platform 2. The sewer is to be laid from MH1 to
MH2 and MH2 to MH3 with a uniform gradient of 1 in 300 and 1 in 200 respectively. The
horizontal distances from MH1 to MH2 and from MH2 to MH3 are 38.778 m and 88.312
m respectively. The staff reading at TBM and invert level of MH1 were 1.366 and 2.768
respectively.
i) Determine the invert level of MH1, MH2, and MH3.
ii) Calculate depth to be excavated at MH3.
