In 1946 American diplomat George F Kennan sent a telegram from Moscow to the Department of State in Washington, D.C., which was sent on request by the U.S. about the Soviet Union's foreign policy after the second world war. It was known as the Long Telegram, which contained a detailed assessment of the USSR's political and economic situation and its intentions and motivation in foreign policy.
