Expert Solution
Introduction

Criminology is a sub-discipline of the broader field of Sociology. The sociological study of deviance in the post War years applied different perspectives such as functionalism, interactionalism and conflict theory to come up with multiple methodical orientations to approach the question of deviance and delinquency (deviance or unlawful behavior by minors).

The problem we have at hand here is to contextualize youth gangs against the larger social context that they are a part of. To do this we need to look at the different ways in which Sociologists explain society, its norms and systems through which deviance or offending behavior is constructed and explained.
