Personal Status ASCRIBED STATUS Definition: The status outside of an individual’s control Examples: A pregnant woman giving childbirth. Lakers winning the 2020 finals. Everyone turning a year older every year. ACHIEVED STATUS Definition: The status a person choses, such as level of education or income. Examples: I chose to go to university of phoenix to further my education. I chose to become a license social worker when I graduate. My younger sister chose to get her diploma after she had her child.

Role Conflict & Strain ROLE CONFLICT Definition: Occurs when one person has to many roles to handle and they can’t keep up with the responsibilities. Example Scenario: For ex. The principle of central highschool has to travel with the football team, but a foodfight just erupted in the cafeteria and they need him to discipline everyone involved ROLE STRAIN Definition: When a person has one single role but has multiple statuses within that role. Example Scenario: For ex. A nurse has a certain amount of patients she has to tend to if the other nurses call in for work or someone doesn’t show up she has to take on their load of patients also, while taking on her own load of patients.
My Role Conflict or Role Strain I'm more on the role strain side because I am one person with many roles statuses I am an older sister, aunti, the oldest child. I have many responsibilities when it comes to my family that I didn’t really sign up for. I watch my nephew then I have to make sure I turn in my assignments along with running errands for my mother and helping out with my younger siblings. It’s a big job and it takes a tole on me but I know it’s for the better.

Theory of My Socialization Process Sociological theory that best describes my socialization process: Conflict Theory My socialization process goes with conflict theory because I have felt and seen inequality through out my years. There is social injustice that hasn’t been dealt with that is now being put in the spotlight.
Influences on Socialization My family influences me because they install in me my values, beliefs and morals so when I do go out in public I am representing them School and work is where I have to be professional at all times because of the environment and rules that are given when online or at work.
