2 SMART GOALS Social Work Core Competency 4-Engage in Practice-informed Research and Research-informed Practice: I will research at least two different interventions that would help reduce unwanted behaviors in a group setting over the course of this internship on November 12, 2023. Social Work Core Competency 5- Engage in Policy Practice: I will research and learn at least two policies that my state (Mississippi) and Federal have that are meant to impact individuals with mental health diagnose over the course of this internship on November 12, 2023. . Explain how the tasks of a social work intern align with social work core competencies and your SMART goals. An internship allows for the student to apply skills and what they have learned in class to social work practice and profession. According to Garthwait (2021), “classroom concepts and ideas should come alive during the practicum, and you will be expected to integrate what you learned in the classroom with your real-life experiences in your practicum setting.” The SMART goals that I wish to achieve is because I need to understand why certain interventions are used during group therapy and the policies within my state and at the federal level. The goal that I have for Social Work Core Competency 4, will allow me to learn why the social worker used one intervention instead of another. For Social Work Core Competency 5, as an intern within the social work profession, it is important to know the policies and programs that are offered in the state in which I will be practicing.
