SOC 112 Module Four Worksheet Wealth Inequality in America Watch the video Wealth Inequality in America (the captioned video is available at Wealth Inequality in America CC ). Then read the article “Income Inequality in America: Understanding Wealth Inequality, Its Causes, and Solutions” (in Module Four Resources). Finally, answer the following questions in complete sentences (1–3 sentences per question). You will need to support your answers with at least one scholarly source. Your responses will be graded using the Module Four Worksheet Rubric. To complete this worksheet, replace the bracketed text with the relevant information. Questions Your Answers 1. Describe your initial reaction to the concepts in this video. I have heard of these concepts before, and I think that Heather is right. Racism hurts everyone and we cannot have appropriate or good political policies when everything hinges on some sort of racism. 2. Did any of the information in the video surprise you? Why or why not? Nothing in this video surprised me. As an adult I learned that the most people that suffered the mortgage fail were colored but it also hurt many more. It was set up to fail people, and the policy makers were okay with that. Everything is based on racism because no one wants to believe that we are all equal and we all have the same needs and wants in life. 3. Discuss how a person’s social class (also referred to as socioeconomic status) can affect his or her chances of success. The lower your social class the less you have to be successful. Yes, some people who come from lower social classes succeed in becoming wealthy and healthy, but that is not how America is structured. America is structured for the wealthy and higher social class to stay that way and get away with almost anything with a slap on the wrist at the most and those who are lower social classes to stay poor. It is unfairly structured. Like Ferris and Stein (2022) talk about in the book, people who are living in poverty are invisible to society in large because they have no political power.
