Kenny Jones SOC213 Assignment 2-2 1. Is complete objectivity impossible to achieve? Why? Or why not? To say the least, I strongly feel after watching the video and doing further research, complete objectivity falls under the category of impossible to achieve. We as a people all have different views, therefore creating different biases. How can one who goes off emotions be completely objective without putting their personal experiences forward. Again, I believe this is impossible in many instances and it would be hard for anyone to completely set aside their beliefs, opinions, preferences etc. 2. How do culture (religion, learned appropriate social responses, etiquette), environment (where you were born, friends, family structure), and personal characteristics (race, gender, socioeconomical status) affect objectivity? All of these said things are what shapes us to be who we are. With that being said, each of these would influence and widely affect objectivity and continue to create bias somewhere along the lines.  3. Should a researcher strive for complete objectivity? Why? Or why not? I think researchers should strive for complete objectivity, however, just because that is the goal, does not always mean that is the case.  The idea of a researcher doing opposite is what does not sit well with me. To say the least, researchers should at every step of the study remain completely objective, this is a critical point in research. Yet as individuals somewhere along the process, scientists will either knowingly or subconsciously be subjective to a degree.  4. How can you limit personal bias using the sociological theory you selected? I chose the conflict theory, i feel you can limit personal bias with this sociological theory by understanding the divide within the classes and how society is looked at as a competition for limited resources. However, you can limit personal bias but to completely get rid of personal bias is another long task to try to accomplish.
