The newer generations rather cohabitate because its easier and some just think marriage is too much of a commitment and just a “piece of paper”. Impact of Divorce on Families Divorce is not always a bad thing some good can come from it if that’s what both parties choose. According to new research. Laws that make it easier to divorce can improve the welfare of household members, even if couples stay together (Heggeness, 2021). The impact isn’t just for the adults' children can tend to lash out as a result of the change that they didn’t ask for. Sometimes children take it to heard and thing “its my fault mom/dad is leaving”. Financial burdens can arise on the parent that keeps the children and sometimes local or state assistance is need ed but not always granted.
Coping Strategies Strategies when going through a stressful time is key to having a healthy mental and emotional state, especially when there are children involved. According to Mental Health America things that can help are: To recognize that its ok to have different feelings, Give yourself a break, Don’t go through it alone, Make sure you are ok, emotionally and physically.
Coping Strategies (cont’d) Keeping a positive attitude makes it easier for children to be themselves and cope with the changes. Things to help children are to: Comfort them and listen, Stick to the same daily routines, Show that you are there for them for anything.
