Two other very powerful monologues are “The Vagina Monologues,”, ”Hair,” and “The Little Coochie Snorcher That Could.” These are very powerful and useful monologues. This is because they give women a platform for them to air out their opinions and grievances on the current societal status on how women are viewed and whether the gender stereotypes and roles have a negative and positive connotation in their lives. “The Little Coochie Snorcher That Could” is very provocative. This is because it is unique in that it discusses sexual empowerment for women and their right to reclaim it. It narrates a story of a lady who had a positive sexual experience in the past. The lady had a transformative relationship with her body that transcended past trauma and emotional baggage. This monologue really challenges traditional beliefs and taboos that have been deeply ingrained in so many people’s mind about female sexuality. It tries to show that women can indeed derive pleasure from their bodies, and that they should not be judged for trying to do so. Through sexual encounters, some women can deal with their past and completely heal from some scars. It completely aligns with what 3 rd wave feminism was trying to promote, which was sexual freedom. ‘Hair’ is another very intriguing and compelling monologue that has the same goals with the previous monologues. All of this monologues are challenging the status quo and existing traditional beliefs about women, and what and what they should not be. This monologue doubles down on the topc of pubic hair. It goes on to explain on people’s personal experiences and social pressures when it comes to grooming and personal hygiene. It uses women’s bodies an example. The monologue questions and challenges the conventional standards of beauty and why is it that women are held to such a high and difficult standard as compared to men. By noting the importance of freedom of will in matters of body and appearance, the monologue is promoting feminist discourse on matters pertaining to body positivity and autonomy. This monologue is in line with the 2rd wave in that it focuses on inclusivity and that society should accept and appreciate women’s bodies as they are. I believe that women should have rights that protect them from certain things that might hurt them over the long run. I believe that these monologues aimed at achieving that and I do believe that they played a major part in trying to reverse some toxic gender stereotypes. I do also believe that traditional femininity served its purpose at the time. The monologues are not trying to make women do manly tasks, but just ensure that they have equal rights. Or at least, that they are not oppressed to say the least. Nonetheless, I am aware of the significance of these monologues in promoting feminism-related discussions, challenging societal norms, and advocating for women's rights and autonomy. They contribute to a larger cultural shift toward comprehending and appreciating the variety of perspectives and experiences held by women.
