Social Worker Script: 1. Introduction and Consent (1-2 minutes) Good morning/afternoon, Eve. Thank you for agreeing to meet with me today. Before we begin, I just want to confirm that you understand the purpose of this interview is for me to get to know you better and learn more about your situation. I also want to confirm that I have your permission to ask you some questions about your life and experiences. Is that okay with you? 2. Confidentiality and Limits (2-3 minutes) Before we start, I want to talk to you about confidentiality. As a social worker, I take confidentiality very seriously. Anything you tell me during our conversation will be kept private and confidential, except in certain circumstances such as if someone's safety is at risk. I will explain those circumstances in more detail later on, but I wanted to let you know that I'm here to help you and everything we talk about will remain between us. However, there are some limits to confidentiality. For example, if you tell me about illegal activities or activities that pose a threat to someone's safety, I may be required to report that information to the authorities. Do you have any questions about confidentiality or the limits to it? 3. Engagement (2-3 minutes) Now, let's talk a little bit about how you're feeling. How have you been doing lately? I know from our previous conversations that you've been feeling stressed and isolated. Can you tell me a little bit more about that? How have these feelings been affecting your daily life and your relationships with your family and friends? What do you think would help you feel more connected and less isolated? 4. Support System (2-3 minutes) You mentioned that you've been feeling alone and isolated. Can you tell me more about your support system? Who is there for you when you need them? Have you tried reaching out to friends or family members for support? If so, how did that go? Are there any support groups or community organizations that you're aware of that could provide you with some support? 5. Coping Strategies (1-2 minutes) You mentioned that you've been experiencing stomach pain and nausea. That sounds really difficult to deal with. How have you been coping with those symptoms?
Are there any things that have helped you feel better or manage your stress in the past? Have you tried any relaxation or stress reduction techniques?
