The redemption in seeing a formerly incarcerated person turn their life around and become clean and sober, contributing members of society. What are your main responsibilities as a…? Well, I serve as a Chief Operations Manager and House Manager for a prison reentry transitional housing organization. My main responsibilities revolve around making sure the homes have food and hygiene supplies for the men; cleaning supplies; utilities, working refrigerators, washers, and driers; that the homes are being kept clean and habitable; that the men are in compliance with their conditions of parole including participating in whatever personal development programs their parole agent has mandated for them and that the men become “employment ready” (i.e., obtain California Drivers License/Identification Card, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate if needed, etc.) as quickly as reasonably possible. What kinds of decisions do you make? I help decide who the program accepts as a participant, what companies to contract with for cleaning and hygiene supplies, what disciplinary sanctions to impose on a program participant for infractions of the program rules, when to discharge a program participant for non-compliance with program rules, maintenance schedules for the program vehicles.
