23F_ENL1726_351 Symbols Text and Meaning Assignment #1 Submitted By- Parneet Kaur Student No.- 041076320
The Tree of Growth I have decided to use a tree as a representation of myself as a symbol. Just like a tree, we need to constantly grow until we reach our highest ceiling and are able to bear the fruits of our labor (Sanna, 2020). The representation of the tree demonstrates that its roots are firmly established, while its branches extend in a variety of directions. The leaves on the trees have a vivid coloration and appear to be very healthy. The tree illustrates not only my values and objectives but also my development as a person over time. My life can be compared to a tree because it has strong roots (Sanna, 2020). These ties to the past are illustrative of my cultural and familial heritage, both of which have played a significant role in the formation of my beliefs and values. My ancestry imparts both wisdom and power upon me, much in the same way that a tree derives its nourishment from its roots. I used a piece of digital design software called Adobe Illustrator to create my sign. This allowed me to take my time in designing the tree symbol and making improvements to it until it flawlessly reflected who I am. My choice is intended to demonstrate that I have a strong
connection to my cultural heritage and that I am dedicated to my own personal development. In the same way that a tree perpetually develops and adapts to its environment, I believe that it is vital to keep one's skills sharp. My peers should interpret this sign as a symbol of development, stability, and a return to one's roots, in my opinion. They might see it as a sign of someone who cares a lot about personal growth and is very affected by their culture. I hope that the overall theme of growth and connection speaks to them, even though there are different ways to interpret it. My creation was built with a substantial amount of cultural and sociological influences playing an important part in both the construction and interpretation of it. The use of a tree to serve as a symbol derives inspiration from the fact that trees have long been held to have universally significant meanings throughout a wide range of cultures, including associations with life, intelligence, and power. Additionally, the incorporation of my cultural background into the design was motivated by my childhood and the values that were ingrained in me by both my family and the community in which I was raised. The intricate nature of signs and the meanings they carry in our lives are brought into relief by the interaction of personal and cultural factors.
