Sharing the Gospel with Various Age Groups
MIN-524 (Evangelism and Discipleship)

Thesis: Here is the Message
God loved the world of people, and His love was not merely sentimental. Rather, it prompted Him to action. God the Father gave His one and only Son as a substitute for sinful humanity. He would die in their place, bearing their sins and everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. When there is trust in Jesus alone as a personal sin bearer, divine judgement is removed, and eternal life is freely given, (Matthew 28:18). In this essay, you will discover that Evangelism is the key element in God’ Kingdom agenda.
Malan and Schoeman said, “evangelism is the
identification of loyal disciples of Jesus Christ in that
evangelism is only effective when there is prayer for the leading of the Spirit of God in
witnessing, occasions, and a clear understanding of the depravity of humanity, separation
from God and His good news of love, mercy and grace. Which is received by faith,” (Nel,
Malan and W. J. Schoeman. 2019).
Unique aspects of sharing the gospel with each of the differing age groups (pre-adolescents,
adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, and senior adults)
Will McRaney has stated that, “when we attempt
to evangelize, we reach out to people across whatever
gap that separates us from them,” (McRaney, w. 2003).
Therefore, it is vital to remember that the core of our message is Jesus Christ and the three essential things that we want to communicate to them concerning Him is: His identity, His mission for Coming, and the reason to follow Him. Acts 2:39 shows us that sharing the gospel with differing age groups resulted in three-thousand new believers coming to faith in Christ. Particular challenges of sharing the gospel with the differing age groups
Dean S.
The particular challenges in sharing the gospel with the differing age groups is in understanding that there may be cultural differences, differences in religious beliefs and contrasting upbringing. In Acts 17:23 & 28 we see that the Apostle Paul started by observing how extremely religious the people were that he had come into contact with based on their objects of worship. The people even had an altar honoring an unknown God. So, the Apostle Paul took that as an opportunity to explain God the Creator to them.
The Apostle Paul even quoted one of their poets to make his point that God is Creator.
Effective ways to share the gospel with the differing age groups
McRaney has stated that, “pre-adolescents have
basic psychological needs and must be handled with extreme care instead of pressure and manipulation during an evangelistic encounter,” (McRaney, W.
2003).
Therefore, it must be understood that consulting the parents or guardians concerning these very delicate circumstances and the role that the spiritual leader will play in their spiritual development is vital. Adolescent’ are more in tune with how they are perceived by peers their age although they have a broader perception in how they process information.
According to Pete Charpentier, “young and middle-aged adults
want safety in life. As they come to conclusions regarding their careers,
relationships, and philosophy, (they seek balance). These desires lead them either to backtrack to their spiritual roots
or to look to spiritual truths for the first time.” Charpentier also went on to say
that, “When sharing the gospel with adults, equal conversation is more favorable than a
one-sided speech. God's Word is non-negotiable, adults should share their thoughts,
disapprovals, and struggles in an interactive way,” (Charpentier, P. 2010).
Unique aspects of sharing the gospel with various genders (males and females)
Females have a greater tendency to perceive the gospel in relational ways, while
males tend to perceive the gospel in action-oriented ways,” (Charpentier, P. 2010).

Luke 8:1-3 shows us that Jesus had a core group of both men and women accompanying Him during His ministry on earth and yet, both groups were distinct.
Particular challenges of sharing the gospel with various genders (males and females)
Because men and women process information on different levels mentally, emotionally, and relationally, it is important not to attempt to treat them the same. Genesis 2:24-25 says that although the male and female share a unity of purpose but are unique individuals.
According to McRaney, “the more we learn the different needs
of male and female, the more likely we will be able
to connect the gospel to their lives,” (McRaney, W. 2003).
Effective ways to share the gospel with various genders (males and females)
With women, the relational aspects of the gospel may be emphasized, however, when sharing the gospel with men, the practical aspects of Christ's call to follow him may
be emphasized. Samuel Shoemaker said that, “effective evangelism towards males
from males within the church has aimed at enabling men to foster
the spiritual life of those within the church but has not sufficiently
equipped them to make appeal with power to those who are outside the church,”
(Shoemaker, S. 2018).
Conclusion
When speaking with my Supervised Minister he stated that it is true that there are contrasting features and attributes among those with resembling customs and social backgrounds or other types of community identifiers, and it’s true that many features of

the gospel message may appeal deeper with one group over another. But we must never forget that the gospel message of Jesus Christ is universal, and Christians are called to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone, (Luke 24:47).
