BIBL 104 Name: Steve Njinthe BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: CORRELATION TEMPLATE Passage: Acts 19:11-22 A. How does this passage from Acts fit within the metanarrative of the Bible? State what type of story you believe this to be (creation, fall, redemption, or new creation) and explain why you believe this to be so? Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (150-300 words) in length. It may be good to review chapter 6 in Everyday Bible Study to recall what each of these four themes are about. This passage from Acts 19: 11 to 22 suits within the metanarrative of redemption. Redemption is the action of being saved from one’s own sin, evil attention, and lastly one’s mistake in life. For example, the power of the holy spirit is being demonstrated through redemption using Paul to perform miraculous miracles in Ephesus. The miracles mentioned here had a big impact on people’s lives leading them to abandon their bad habit of doing things and to strive to do better. This shows a significant change towards reconnecting with God and finding redemption through him. Paul mission in Ephesus shows how God used Christ to spread his work message of salvation in an immersed city that is in the ideology of worship images and witchcraft. The challenges that Paul faces from his enemies highlight the battle between God plan and the evil forces of redemption. B. How does your theological principle from Acts 19:11-22 fit with the rest of the Scripture? This principle is the one you have written out in 1-3 sentences in the Interpretation Assignment. If your theological principle is a true Biblical principle, it will be reflected throughout the Scriptures. Where is the theological principle discovered in this New Testament narrative found elsewhere in the Scriptures? Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (150-300 words) in length. Be specific. Give, explain, and cite your supporting passage(s) from Scripture. The theological concept derived from Acts 19:11-22 highlights God’s sovereignty and force pertaining to spiritual conflicts and significance of one turning away from sinful behavior leading to repentance. As we seen in the passage of Acts, the book frequently discusses the sovereignty and power of God. God’s sovereignty is also demonstrated in the book of Psalm 115:3 “Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” and in the book of Genesis and Revelations. The Old and New Testaments both contain references to God's unparalleled authority. Furthermore, The Bible goes in details concerning the repercussions of invoking God's name without faith. Acts 19: 11 to 22 recounts a lesson about the potency of God's Word as established through his chosen individuals. The beginning of redemption and establishing a bond with Christ is portrayed as revering God. As a result, it illustrates the power of faith in God by showcasing occasions where even any item touched by Paul, such as handkerchiefs and aprons
BIBL 104 had healing properties. To cultivate a relationship with God it is advised to not prioritize idols or activities above Him and to turn away, from false deities. The theme of spiritual conflict between good and evil can be found throughout the entire Bible but more in particularly in verses Acts 19 11-22. Which depicts the good work and character of Jesus demonstrating his authority over all spiritual forces. Moreover, the theological lesson learned from Acts 19:11-22 emphasizes the major themes of God's omnipotence, spiritual warfare, and the necessity of repentance, all of which have a long history in the biblical story. C. How does your theological principle from this passage in Acts reflect the person and work of Jesus Christ? State and explain at least one way that the theological principle of this passage correlates with something of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (150-300 words) in length. Be specific. Give, explain, and cite your supporting passage(s) from Scripture. A passage that I feel correlates with Act 19 11:22 is John 14 11:22. In the verse, Jesus is talking and stating that if one places his faith in him and believe in his miracles, he will love and care for them. In Acts 19 Jesus was portraying different evidences of his miracles and the effects to if one were to use his name wrongly. When Jesus then showed his evidence to the people in the book of Acts, the people began placing their faith unto Jesus.
