Discussion Replies 2_ The Gospel Forms and Informs Leaders: CLED 300 Great opening thoughts on the word leadership and where there could be confusion between a leadership position or title. I agree with your statement that “True leadership, especially Christian leadership, is driven by the knowledge that the right beliefs, aimed at the right opportunity, can lead to earth-shaking changes.” That statement speaks to how the “right beliefs, and the right opportunity” can form and inform leadership and bring about transformative change in the lives of others. I believe that in addition to having the right beliefs passion, and conviction tremendously aid in forming leadership especially when the foundation is built on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mohler attests “In any context of leadership, passion arises out of beliefs. For the Christian leader, those convictions must be drawn from the Bible and must take the shape of the gospel.” 1 In light of the gospel the Old and New Testaments coherently work together and point to the work of Jesus Christ and give leaders a starting point and understanding of what is fulfilled through Christ's life, death, and resurrection and how he reveals himself to his people. Goldsworthy states, “Because Christ sums up the whole of biblical revelation, what is revealed of him controls the way we do biblical theology.” 2 “What would Jesus do?” That question in your post caused me to remember my thoughts and how I was reminded by those simple words to be kind, patient, generous, and share with others not only with words but in deeds. Paul writes “So, we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well” (1 Thessalonians 2:8 New International Version). Thank you for your post! I enjoyed reading and interacting with your thoughts. 1 Albert Mohler, The Conviction to Lead: 25 Principles for Leadership That Matters (Minneapolis, MN: Bethany House Publishers, 2012), 54. 2 Graeme Goldsworthy, According to Plan: The Unfolding Revelation of God in the Bible (IVP, 1991), 76.
