In the story of Acts 19:11-22 describes the works of Paul during the New Testament, therefore it also describes the dark magic of the Old Testament and the power of Jesus. Further in the story a group of 7 sons of a Jewish priest named Sceva attempt to cast out demons in the name of Jesus but essentially fail leading the spirt to “overpower them leaving the scared and naked”(Bible quote) However the story describes the demon that the sevens sons were attempting to cast out said “Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are you” This act of casting out demons in the name of Jesus but not having the power oof God resulted in the sevens sons being scared. This act led to the entire town burning their magic and spells converting them to the name of Jesus. The point the author is attempting to make is that no one can possess the power of Jesus or Paul for that matter without permission or essentially the Holy spirit. The Holy spirit is a gift that is given to us from the Lord. It specifically says in John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” This created a chain reaction to the town leading to the burning and destruction of anything that was satanic or evil. This was another miracle provided by the Lord resulting in the chain affect. The main point is that although the Lord preformed amazing miracles through Paul, he healed the sick, dealt with Jewish exorcists and escaped mobs all these things resulted in the power of the Holy Spirit through Jesus as it was worked through Paul. The Lord preforms these miracles just as Jesus did to carry out the continuation of the Lord and to spread the Word. After the coming and leaving of Jesus there was still a lot of people who had not heard about the Lord and was still doing things the old way, through the Old Testament. Therefore, would result in the spreading of the Lord through Paul. Principle The story emphasizes on the importance of having a guanine, truthful, and loving relationship with Jesus and the Lord to change someone’s life for the better in the name of Jesus. The Credo Reference book says, “that by such work we must support the weak.” Models serve as analogies for readers, but analogies break down when pushed toward their limits (e.g., raising the dead). Further, the characters themselves reflect the origin of what they do in God (3:12, 16). Still, readers can identify with characters in their deficiencies (Peter’s reluctance to go to Cornelius [10:20, 28]) and can envision models of God in relation to humanity.” (Credo Reference - Acts, n.d.) This simply means that “by such work (the work performed through God and the Holy Spirit is work completed and necessary and supports the week. This is just like Jesus and Paul, Them and many more disciples like them all preformed miracles Infront of them in ways of healing the weak. But like Paul and John the Baptist they all had the holy spirit and helped the weak because it was the weak that needed to be strong and ask for strength and try to be like the apostles. There are several stories in the Bible when Jesus ate dinner with killers, and sinners. He also saved the town debt collector telling him in Luke 19
10:11 “Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."
