Civic and Global Engagement Diversity and Biblical Worldview There is a lot to learn about diversity and worldview. First, we will address the question of, what is a biblical worldview? After establishing the meaning, we will dive deeper into how to go about strengthening biblical worldview. Lastly, we will examine other cultures are and how we can engage with them while maintain a biblical worldview. I would define biblical world view as seeing the world as having a foundation based on the bible and following Gods word. In our textbook a worldview is described as our beliefs and how they impact our behavior (Ellis et al., 2019). Having a biblical worldview means to look at the world through the entire word of God. It is important to remember that we can not pick what we do and not follow but trust all of God’s word. The verse “thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (King James Version, 2018, psalm 119:115) is a reminder to me that the bible in its entirety is a guide to lead us in following Gods word. While attending Liberty University there are many opportunities to strengthen our biblical world view. One such way would be to simply listen to the professors and embrace the example shown by them. We can see a biblical worldview shine through in interactions with them. Such as the class announcement we receive and the spiritual words of encouragement that are shown through shared Bible verses and a strong Christan theme that shines through in every interaction. It is not only inspiring, but it is comforting in times of stress we experience in the challenges of collage life. Worldviews have a huge impact on life. Our textbook indicates that our worldview is the foundation to how we interact with the world and shapes how we behave (Ellis et al., 2019). I believe that with my biblical worldview my purpose in life is to not only follow Gods word but share his word with others. My goal is to obtain my degree in psychology and use it to council people in need from all walks of life. I think that having a biblical worldview will allow me to
help others who need guidance and remind them that God is good and through him all things are possible. The video “Diversity at Liberty University” defines culture as a way of life. I agree with this statement. Though it may be different than our way of life other cultures are not so different than we are. We can work with different cultures by realizing that we have more in common than it may seem. No matter what walk of life we come from we are all made in God’s image. Referring to the message from the book of Matthew Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (King James Version, 2018, Matthew 28:18-20). God is in all of us from every nation and every culture. With our biblical worldview it is important to remember just because a culture is different from our own doesn’t mean we can’t find common ground and work together and understand one another through our love of Christ. In conclusion, we have defined biblical worldview as the foundation of living through the word of God and mentioned that one way to strengthen our worldview is simply observe those around us who show us a strong biblical focus. Lastly, we talked about diversity and how it is simply a way of life. Although different than what we may know we are all made in the image of Christ and can work together by finding common ground and accepting our differences.
