Article of faith #10 The gathering of scattered Israel is, as we have learned from president nelson, the most import work that we can be engaged in the later days. The ‘gathering’ includes missionary work, helping less active members come back to regular church observance, and helping anyone alive or dead make and comply with covenants. Doing this helps to excel God’s purpose and helps us prepare for the celestial kingdom. Scattered Israel is different from the lost ten tribes. Although, we are gathering the lost ten tribes that were carried away with the northern kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians that have been scattered abroad all nations of the earth, The lost ten tribes are a distinct group of Israelites that are separate from our society. In the Doctrine and Covenants it says that the lost ten tribes will come from the north when they break through the ice and walk along the land bridge that will be created that will lead them to the New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem will be the center for the political kingdom of Christ that will take place after the second coming. The New Jerusalem is also Zion. Zion is when all the people and society live the celestial law, so God can walk with men. This will happen in the New Jerusalem; this is what is spoken of in the article of faith that says that Christ will reign personally upon the earth. For Christ to come for the second time we need to build this New Jerusalem and as a church, become a Zionist society living the celestial law. The savior will have 3 appearances, one to Zion, Jews, and the world. During the second coming Christ will come to the earth and destroy the world. The world is the society,
culture, and sins of the natural man. Only celestial and Terrestrial worthy people will be allowed to remain on the earth. During this purging of the telestial world and earth, a new earth will form that will be a terrestrial world. This state of the world was the original state of the world when it was first formed, so after Christ’s purging the world will be renewed and return to its original unfallen glory. I will also include scriptures, talks, books, and articles relating to this topic to support the claims that I have made above about the tenth article of faith.
