Benchmark- Gospel Essentials A worldview is a set of beliefs that people live by and interact with to see the world around them. Many people show their worldviews by the way they treat others, respond to world events, or simply how they decide to live their lives. Though everyone has their own beliefs and ways to live through God, their worldviews come with values just as ours would. Many types of worldviews include Atheism, Judaism, Buddhism, Muslim, and Christianity. However, the Christian worldview is known for living our lives in the eyes of God and understanding his love for us. As a Christian, it is important to live every day by staying true to their beliefs and living by God's faith and wisdom. For this essay, we will be learning and answering many questions that pertain to the Christian worldview including the fundamentals of the nature of God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration. Analyzing these topics will help us further understand the implications of the Christian worldview. Gospel Essential Beliefs
Nature of God
God is the sovereign and almighty Lord of all. God is the creator of all things. God is our Father who loves each one of us, though some of us don’t appreciate Him the way we should.
God is a caring being who loves everyone unconditionally so he sent his son to die for our sins so that we can one day live with him in eternity. In the Christian worldview, God is not only seen as the creator of all things but also a God that exists as a Triune being. As a Christian, the one and only God exists in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. According to The Beginning of Wisdom
, Dan Diffey explains, “…God exists in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is important because a Trinitarian understanding of God is an essential component of the Christian worldview. Within the Bible, creation is an exclusively divine activity. The biblical testimony is that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are responsible for everything that was
created.” (Diffey, Ch.3). Being the creator of all things, God importantly created men in his own image. As of this, God reveals his perfect characteristics as all-powerful, loving, infinite, intelligent, wise, righteous, good, etc.. so that Christians can strive to be the same and see the world in reflection to how God would see it. Therefore, God’s perfect characteristics help us further understand his nature. Nature of Humanity
Shaping how Christians view themselves and others, the nature of humanity is the belief
that human beings are created in the image of God. In the Christian worldview, this demonstrates God’s significant relationship to humanity and God’s role in humanity. The Bible says, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27). A human’s purpose is to serve and bring glory to

God’s name while showing love to others in his image. However, there are many problems when it comes to humanity. These problems all fall under Adam and Eve with the fall and the beginning of sin. Having Adam and Eve disobey God’s only rule in the Garden caused God to punish not just them but all mankind. Men were left with the punishment of pain and hard work while women were punished with childbearing pain and being ruled over by men. (Genesis 3: 16-19). Understanding the knowledge of what happened with Adam and Eve, it is our responsibility as Christians to know our tendency to sin but to repent and ask God for forgiveness. Even with the knowledge of wisdom and repentance, the root cause of human problems is our tendency and temptation to sin as imperfect human beings. Nature of Jesus
In the Christian worldview, Jesus is not only the Messiah, but He is the Son of God. Jesus
was put on this earth to bring everlasting life as shown by the crucifixion of suffering and dying on a cross and the resurrection of Jesus rising from the dead three days later. Jesus sacrificed his life for humanity to have everlasting life with Him and His kingdom purpose knowing that some may not even choose him. Through the resurrection of Jesus, mankind is shown redemption and forgiveness. With this, the resurrection of Jesus is essential for the Christian worldview for our sins are forgiven because of the love Jesus had for all of us. Looking through the CWV Packet 5, it mentions, “God Loved us. We didn’t deserve it. He gave his son to Die for us to make us right with God.” (Pg. 3). Additionally, Jesus being the Messiah and Son of God, his
work is significant and vital to the Christian worldview because humanity would not turn to Christ if it wasn’t for his unconditional love and the sacrifice he made for our lives. Restoration
According to the Christian worldview, the solution to human problems is Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. With this salvation comes along faith and love as a Christian. Without it, Christians can’t be restored or saved through Christ. Therefore, the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ as Jesus himself said in the Bible, “‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6-7). This verse shows the prime example of salvation as we can’t get to heaven without going through Jesus Christ. Additionally,
the start of our new lives with salvation all starts with acknowledging that we are sinners and repenting from our sins. After asking God for forgiveness and continuing to make wise decisions
in life, God will start to become the center of our lives. As also stated in the Bible, “If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. So, ask God to forgive you of all your sins, and trust that His mercy and grace have covered all your transgressions.” (1 John 1:9-10) where it shows that we must repent, have faith, and trust in God’s grace that we are forgiven. Consequently, this is the process by which we become transformed and restored through Christ in the eyes of a Christian worldview
and is expected to guide the rest of the world.
Christian Foundations
The last four concepts of the nature of God, the nature of humanity, the nature of Jesus,
and the nature of restoration are all essential to the foundation of the Christian worldview. The nature of God show His perfect characteristics and allows the Christian worldview to see the world the way He does. God is not just the creator of all things but also the only one true God who is also three persons in one: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as provided in the Trinity doctrine. The nature of humanity was that humans were created in the image of God with the purpose to spread the Gospel and live life for Christ. Although Christians fell short of the Glory when sin entered the world, God sent his son, Jesus to save humanity and allow forgiveness so that one day we can live with God in eternity. The nature of Jesus is that he is the Messiah and the Son of God who came down from heaven and save his people from an eternity in hell. When Jesus died for our sins, he resurrected three days later; allowing our sinful humanity to be forgiven and have a chance to live eternity in heaven. Lastly, the nature of restoration allows
Christians to acknowledge that they are sinners in need of a Savior, repent, and accept God as our Lord and Savior. Without these four concepts, the fundamentals of the Christian Worldview
would not be worth living for.

Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview (200)
Human Value and Dignity
The Christian worldview provides many benefits and strengths to its believers. These include hope, faith, wisdom, and guidance to help guide Christians in the right direction. However, one of the most significant benefits a Christian can have is when they are aware of their sin and ask for forgiveness. Repenting from sin and asking for forgiveness allows humans to have wisdom and faith that their sins have been forgiven by God. As of this, the Christian worldview impacts people’s behaviors and the way they think because we were made in the image of God and are expected to try and do everything to glorify Him.
Comparison of Salvation in Christianity to another World Religion
The concept of salvation in the Christian worldview has many differences compared to the atheist worldview. The atheist worldview consists of no god or gods, no higher power, and only believes in what exists in the physical. According to CWV Topic 1 Packet, some examples consist of “Agnosticism: No knowledge, Secular humanism: Committed to the non-exitance of God, and Naturalism: Focused on nature and knowledge available through the natural sciences.” (Pg. 7). Opposite from Christianity, Atheists do not think they need guidance or wisdom from a higher power so they have no reason to live their lives for someone other them themselves.
Influence on a Person’s Thinking and Behavior
The Christian worldview has many ways to influence many people’s thinking and behaviors. This includes revealing God’s love for his people by sending his son, Jesus to suffer and die for our sins knowing that we have the choice to not even choose him in the end. This also includes the love that Christians show to other including their enemies for they are created
in the image of God and are expected to glorify Him. As of that, people will notice these things and learn to love and care just as God does.
Troublesome or confusing elements in Christianity
There can be some troublesome or confusing parts when it comes to talking about the Christian faith and interpreting the bible. When people claim to be Christians but don’t live the lifestyle of a Christian, they are not considered to be true Christians. This is one of the main problems that make many people question Christianity and its lifestyle. Through the Christian worldview, it is important to do everything to glorify him and be the creation God intended; the
image of Himself. Conclusion
In conclusion, following Christianity and being a part of the Christian worldview has many outcomes that some may not have expected. We were able to learn that the Christian worldview helps us realize the love God has for us and understand how to live our lives in the eyes of God. The fundamentals that were used to help us learn and answer many questions
that pertain to the Christian worldview include the nature of God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration. Analyzing these topics allowed us to reflect on God’s image in our everyday lives and realize how important it is to glorify God. With that, we can also realize the blessings God has given us and relate our lives to Christianity. Therefore, Christianity allows people to see the world the way God does so that we can better it not just for ourselves but for humanity.
