Explain the context of Jeremiah 29:11 and how context must be taken into consideration for its interpretation.
People facing difficult situations today can take comfort in Jeremiah 29:11. It is not a promise of immediate rescue from suffering but a promise that God has a plan for our lives and regardless of our current situation, He can work through it to prosper us in the future. We can also take comfort in knowing that God promises to be there for us.
Explain the significance of Jeremiah’s prophesy of a coming new covenant that is “with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah” (Jer. 31:31).
Jeremiah 31:31 predicts a new covenant between God and Israel, which is fulfilled by Jesus Christ in the New Testament. This covenant is not broken but fulfilled through Jesus, who is seen as the embodiment of the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants. The prophecy also suggests that Israel has not yet fully entered into this new covenant, which is believed to occur during the tribulation period.
What is the “good news” that is proclaimed from the mountaintops?
Nahum 1:15 delivers a "good news" prophecy about the downfall of the Assyrians, who had been oppressing the people of Judah. It is noteworthy that Nahum, a prophet, preached against Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, instead of Judah or Israel.
If it is the “righteous” who live by faith, how does one become righteous to begin with?
Righteousness, according to Habakkuk and the New Testament, comes through faith in Christ's sacrifice on the cross, not through good deeds or religious rituals. This righteousness is

given, not earned, to believers through faith, and is the essence of justification by faith in Christianity.
Why did Habakkuk’s declaration of “the righteous will live by his faith” become so important to the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Romans?
Habakkuk wrote, "The righteous live by faith." Faith alone doesn't guarantee salvation. Paul, who faced similar persecution, echoed this message to the Roman Christians.
The day of the LORD is a terrible time of downfall and destruction for which people?
The Day of the Lord is a time of judgment and punishment for those people that persist in
sin and rebellion against God. Is there also a ‘positive side’ to the day of the LORD? If so, how and for whom?
The "Day of the Lord" is a time of both judgment and salvation. For the faithful, it brings deliverance, restoration, and reward. It will usher in the reign of God and establish His eternal kingdom.
Why is the Book of Zephaniah considered ‘eschatological’, in other words, about the last days?
Zephaniah is an eschatological book. Its central theme is The Day of the Lord, referring to the end of the world when God will come to judge. The prophet says God was about to do this to Judah due to their sins.
