Discussion Thread: Biblical Integration Response
you mentioned Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in your post and you stated, “Essentially, if it is within an employer’s power to provide an employee with the necessary accommodation, as their business would not suffer from doing so, then that employer should provide that accommodation”. I agree with your statement because the ADA broadly defines reasonable accommodation to include modification of facilities, materials, procedures, and jobs, and it states that employers must take such action provided these modifications do not create and undue hardship on the
organization (Werner, 2022). The organization should be willing to modify all equipment to accommodate the individual with disabilities. God is a loving God and he wants us to love one another and help those that are in need. 1 John 3:17 states, “But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in
need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? (Holy Bible, 2023). We all must show love to the disabled and an organization should relinquish all resources available to accommodate the disabled. Being disabled in the work place can bring humility to other employees as well as customers. Disability is a productive resource within an
organization in fostering creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills, diversity promotion, positive energy, humility, and holistic views on employees (Moore et al., 2020). When John the Apostle was speaking to the people of the Providence of Asia, he said we should love one another just as Christ loves us. Brotherly love was the first thing John mentioned to the Christians to let them know they are to love their brother regardless of any situation because that showed their love for Christ. God did not give up on the paraplegic man that was asking to be healed. Neither did the paraplegic man’s brothers [friends] give up on him. After recognizing there was a barrier, they lowered him down from the rooftop to get help from Jesus. This is how God is asking all of us to be, organizations included. Organizations and all people should attempt to accommodate anyone that is in need pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act or just life itself. Don’t give up on the disabled or any person that is need because your love for Christ is shown through your selflessness against your brother.
