Passage: Acts 9:36-43
A.
How does this passage from Acts fit within the metanarrative of the Bible? State what type of story you believe this to be (creation, fall, redemption, or new creation) and explain why you believe this to be so? Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (200-300 words) in length. It may be good to review chapter six in Everyday Bible Study
in order to
recall what each of these four themes are about.
The passage found in Acts 9:36-43 fits within the redemption part of the metanarrative of
the Bible. All throughout the Bible, God’s rescue and redemption is on display. In the cases from Moses, Noah, and even Tabitha. There has always been a plan of redemption and restoration and it has always involved Jesus. By allowing Tabitha to die and Peter to perform the miracle of resurrection, all glory goes to God. Peter pointed the people who were lost to Jesus and that in itself is the overall picture of redemption and restoration. From death to eternal life because Jesus died to pay the price for us to live. So perhaps the story isn’t necessarily about Tabitha, but what happens when miracles are performed and redemption and restoration comes. Eugene Peterson puts it this way in The Message, “ ‘I’ll firmly establish my covenant with you and you’ll know that I am God. You’ll remember your past life and face the shame of it, but when I make atonement for you, make everything right after all you’ve done, it will leave you speechless” (Ezek 16:62–63).

How does your principle from Acts 9:36-43 fit with the rest of the Scripture? This principle is the one you have written out in 1-3 sentences in the Interpretation section. If your principle is a true Biblical principle, it will be reflected throughout the Scriptures. Where is the principle discovered in this New Testament narrative found elsewhere in the Scriptures? Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (200-300 words) in length. Be specific. List, explain, and cite your supporting passage(s) from Scripture.
By allowing Jesus to lead, and following in His footstep’s miracles, signs, and wonders will be present. And most importantly, lead others to eternal life.
We were created to be his disciples, led by His spirit, and do greater works than those He did on earth according to (Bible Gateway, 2023).
Anything that points a person back to Jesus and ushers in redemption and restoration, especially eternal life, is part of the principle discovered in Acts 9:36-43. We are ultimately called to walk as he did. Our purpose is to operate in all the things He did, but by doing so we point people back to Him. The goal is to always point them to Jesus. C.
How does this passage from Acts reflect the person and work of Jesus Christ? State and explain at least one way that the principle of this passage identifies something of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (200-300 words) in length. Be specific. List, explain, and cite your supporting passage(s) from Scripture. Jesus healed the sick according to Luke 17:12-19 ( (Bible Gateway, 2023). He healed the blind, He fed 5000, turned water into wine, and many more things. All of the miracles He
performed pointed to His deity and His death revealed His humanity. By following in His
footsteps, we are able to do the same and greater miracles, which ultimately point the world back to Him. The creation, the fall, and the redemption. It even points people to the
New Creation part of the Bible. In Him all things are made new. Page 2 of 3

The passage in Acts identifies the person and work of Jesus Christ by one raising the dead. Even Tabitha’s good works are a reflection of how Jesus helps others. Just as they sent for Peter, we too are able to be sent for. The fact they sent for Peter is a reflection of how we just need to call on Jesus and He comes. He is a very present help in a time of need. He shows up always on time. And as Peter raised Tabitha from the dead, so does Jesus raise us from death spiritually. He paid the price for life. And once the miracles were performed, others came to know Jesus as their Savior and get to experience the many benefits of knowing Him as Lord.
