1. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT? The third person in the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, shares the same substance and power as the Father and the Son ( Kim, 2023) . The Holy Spirit's distinctive character and attributes, as well as His crucial function in the life of the believer and the church, are all reflected in the Scriptures. Scripture regularly refers to the Holy Spirit as a person, complete with will (1 Corinthians 12:11), intelligence (1 Corinthians 2:10–11), and emotions (Ephesians 4:30) ( Kim, 2023) . He is also described to as a Comforter or Helper in John 14:16, denoting His function in aiding and directing Christians. One of the most essential characteristics of the Holy Spirit is His ability to reveal truth to Christians. The Holy Spirit is known as the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17), and Jesus promised to lead His disciples into all truth (John 16:13) ( Kim, 2023) . He also enables Christians to understand and share the message (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit is responsible for the process through which Christians are made holy and conformed to the likeness of Christ. The Spirit produces fruit in the life of the believer, such as love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22-23), and empowers Christians to overcome sin and live according to God's purpose (Romans 8:13-14) ( Kim, 2023) . Finally, spiritual gifts are given to Christians by the Holy Spirit for the edifying of the church and the proclamation of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). Prophecy, teaching, healing, and insight are examples of these gifts ( Kim, 2023) . In conclusion, the Holy Spirit is a person with a distinct personality and traits who exposes truth to believers, empowers them for sanctification and service, and bestows spiritual gifts for the church's edifying. His presence offers consolation, wisdom, and power in the life of the believer and the church. 2. WHAT IS THE ACTIVITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?
The role that the Holy Spirit plays in the world, the church, and the lives of believers are all part of His multifaceted activity. The Holy Spirit's roles and goals are clearly outlined in Scripture, which also emphasizes His active participation in several facets of God's redemptive plan ( Hocken, 2021) . In the world, the Holy Spirit has a significant role to perform, especially in relation to the unbelievers and the world. Convincing the world of its sin, righteousness, and judgment is one of His main roles (John 16:8) ( Voight, 1988). Through His activity, the Holy Spirit convicts’ people's spirits, making them aware of their need for salvation and their separation from God. The Holy Spirit also controls evil and convinces the world of God's goodness by being present (Genesis 6:3, John 16:10) ( Hocken, 2021) . He testifies about Jesus Christ and bears witness to the Gospel's validity (John 15:26). According to 1 Corinthians 12:3, the Holy Spirit brings people to Christ and empowers them to declare Him Lord. Additional phases in the redemption process include the regeneration, baptism, and sealing of Christians by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5-7, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit produces the fruit of the Spirit in the lives of Christians by enabling them to live holy and fruitful lives (Galatians 5:22-23) ( Hocken, 2021) . The founding and operation of the Church are fundamentally influenced by the Holy Spirit. In order to build up the body of Christ, Jesus gives believers spiritual gifts and enables them for ministry (1 Corinthians 12:4–11). Prophecy, healing, miracles, teaching, leadership, and other abilities are among these talents ( Hocken, 2021) . The correct operation and unity of the Church are ensured by the Holy Spirit's distribution of these talents in accordance with His purpose (1 Corinthians 12:11; Ephesians 4:11–12). The Holy Spirit also brings Christians together and forges a spiritual connection between them. Regardless of their socioeconomic or racial backgrounds, Jesus baptizes believers into the same body, the Church (1 Corinthians

12:13) ( Voight, 1988). Acts 13:2 and Acts 16:6-7 both speak of how the Spirit leads and directs the Church, leading and guiding its members in line with God's desire ( Hocken, 2021) . The Holy Spirit is a vital part of every believer's life since He gives them strength and transforms them. The Holy Spirit regenerates and indwells those who place their faith in Christ, creating in them a new creation (Titus 3:5, Romans 8:9–11). As a guarantee of their salvation and inheritance in Christ, believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13– 14) ( Hocken, 2021) . Christians are gradually shaped into Christ's likeness as they are sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Through the work of the Spirit, believers are given the ability to put to death the deeds of the body and live according to God's righteous standards (Romans 8:13–14). According to Galatians 5:22–23, the fruit of the Spirit in a believer's life includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control ( Hocken, 2021) . Furthermore, Christians get guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit. He directs people to the truth and serves as a reminder of the teachings of Jesus (John 14:26; 16:13). Additionally, the Spirit intercedes on behalf of Christians, strengthening them in their weaknesses and coordinating their requests with God's will (Romans 8:26–27) ( Hocken, 2021) . In conclusion, the Holy Spirit's job is extensive and covers His role in the world, the church, and the life of a believer. He purges the world of sin, empowers the church for service, and shapes believers into the likeness of Christ. Christians are strengthened, led, and sealed by the Holy Spirit, who also plays a significant part in their spiritual development. 3. HOW HAS THE HOLY SPIRIT USED PEOPLE IN HISTORY? One illustrious figure in the history of the church who was guided by the Holy Spirit in his life and activity was the German theologian and reformer Martin Luther, who lived in the
16th century ( Son, 2020) . Luther's encounter with the Holy Spirit altered not just the course of Christian history but also his own life. As a monk in the Roman Catholic Church, Martin Luther began his spiritual journey. He struggled with thoughts of worthlessness and shame in front of God. Luther, on the other hand, experienced a life-altering encounter with the Holy Spirit via his prayer and Bible study, which resulted in a profound understanding of God's love and redemption ( Son, 2020) . While Luther was reading the book of Romans, his life was completely flipped upside down. As he struggled with the idea of righteousness, Luther experienced a paradigm-shifting insight that justification is independent of human effort or merit and is instead a gift of God ( Son, 2020) . This revelation, also known as the idea of justification by faith, served as the foundation of the Protestant Reformation and was a key concern in Luther's theology. Luther's understanding of justification by faith was inspired by the Holy Spirit and was not only a result of his intellectual research. He understood that the Holy Spirit illuminated Scripture and made him aware of the truth of God's Word. Luther attested to the Holy Spirit's assistance, saying, "I have been helped by Him." I've witnessed events that no other monk on earth has ( Son, 2020) . Furthermore, the conviction and guidance of the Holy Spirit served as a catalyst for Luther's boldness and tenacity in facing the Catholic Church's immoral actions ( Son, 2020) . He was inspired by the Holy Spirit to have the temerity to challenge the ruling ecclesiastical body of his time and proclaim the truth of salvation by grace alone. Luther's famous act of pinning the Ninety-Five Theses to the Wittenberg Castle Church door in 1517 marked the beginning of the Reformation, a movement that transformed Christianity ( Son, 2020) . Luther recognized his need on the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout his career and made an
effort to uphold the integrity of God's Word. He believed that the Holy Spirit was the true teacher and head of the Church, guiding believers into all truth. Luther emphasized the role of every Christian as a priest, contending that everyone has direct access to God through the Holy Spirit, negating the need for intermediaries ( Son, 2020) . Martin Luther's life and ministry serve as an example of how the Holy Spirit may transform a person's life and change the course of history. With the aid of the Holy Spirit, Luther rediscovers the core doctrines of the Bible while highlighting the importance of grace, faith, and the infallibility of God's Word ( Son, 2020) . His reliance on the guidance and conviction of the Holy Spirit affected not just his own course but also inspired a movement that led to significant changes in the Church. Research materials from the Holy Spirit Research Center on campus or the online resources of the ORU Library would offer further insights and information surrounding Luther's relationship with the Holy Spirit and his role as an important figure in the Reformation ( Son, 2020) . 4. HOW CAN THE HOLY SPIRIT USE ME? I have experienced the Holy Spirit's transformative power and the impact He can have on my life via my personal journey. The Holy Spirit has been guiding, facilitating, and preparing me for service in God's kingdom in a variety of ways. My relationship with the Holy Spirit has been greatly influenced by the Holy Spirit's role in my spiritual development and transformation. My understanding of God's love, grace, and truth has improved as a consequence of the Holy Spirit's conviction and guidance. The Bible has been made more alive by the Holy Spirit, who has also given me wisdom and discernment when it comes to making judgments.

I also have spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit that I may use to help the body of Christ. His talents have enabled me to aid in the edifying and encouragement of fellow Christians. Through teaching, leadership, or acts of compassion, the Holy Spirit has given me the ability to contribute to the growth of the Church and the impacting of lives for Christ ( Wibowo, Tanhidy & Ming, 2022) . Furthermore, the Holy Spirit has been my comforter and guide through times of difficulty and uncertainty. When I have faced challenges or experienced times of doubt, he has brought me comfort, peace, and confidence. The Spirit has given me a sense of assurance about God's presence and faithfulness even in the face of difficulties ( Wibowo, Tanhidy & Ming, 2022) . I need the Holy Spirit to guide me more clearly when I think about my career choice and future goals. I understand that in order to achieve this, I must strengthen my relationship with Him via prayer, Bible study, and developing my sensitivity to His guidance. It is essential to seek the guidance and insight of the Spirit in all decisions, no matter how big or little, and to have faith that He will guide my steps in line with God's purposes. I may also cultivate a setting that invites the Holy Spirit into my life with more intention. Being receptive and obedient to His guidance, especially when it goes against my comfort zone, involves setting aside time for solitude and silence to listen to His promptings, practicing gratitude and praise to invite His presence, and exercising appreciation and obedience ( Wibowo, Tanhidy & Ming, 2022) . Keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is the best teacher and guide by remaining humble and teachable. To align with God's will and purposes, I must be prepared to let up of my own goals and objectives. This calls for a position of submission, allowing the Holy Spirit to mold and shape me in accordance with His goals, even if it means foraying into uncharted terrain or
taking calculated risks for the sake of the Gospel ( Wibowo, Tanhidy & Ming, 2022) . Finally, persistent dependence on the Holy Spirit is required in order to be used by Him. Seeking His presence, remaining in Him, and acting on His direction are ongoing processes. I firmly believe that the Holy Spirit will use me to advance His kingdom on earth and bring glory to God as long as I remain open to His activity in my life.
