Gospel Essential Beliefs
A worldview is defined as the way an individual perceives the world around them. An individual’s worldview dictates how they will think and act when they encounter different situations. One’s morals, values, and beliefs are applied when navigating their everyday life. Each person has their own worldview that is shaped by a variety of defining aspects like their culture, religion, and environment. Although people who share these defining aspects typically share many key characteristics within their worldview, each person’s worldview is unique to them. Two people coming from the same culture can practice two different religions causing their worldview to vary even though they share some key aspects. Today I will be discussing the Christian Worldview, which incorporates the Bible and the word of God to dictate one’s morals, values, and beliefs. The purpose of this essay is to define the nature of God, human, and Jesus; explain what is needed for restoration; highlight key components of the Christian foundation; and finally analyzing the implications of the Christian Worldview (Diffey & Holland, 2022). Nature of God
The nature of God essentially answers the question, “Who is God?” The answer to this question can be found within the Bible as God describes Himself. The Bible states that God is the Father of Creation. God is represented not only in physical creation through the world and through Jesus Christ, but he is also represented within spiritual creation through the Holy Spirit. God is sovereign, because he is the ruler and creator of all of the universe, and he existed before all of creation (Payn, 2016). In many passages it shows that He is welcoming. These characteristics are demonstrated because God invites us to have a relationship with him and to share all of our concerns and short comings. God is forgiving, loving, and accepting which he
3
shows through giving forgiveness for our sins and still loving us. He is reliable because everything he promises comes true. He is infinite wisdom because he knows all. He knows the past, present, and future and he knows and understands all situations. The Bible states that He is all powerful. God is perfect and is with out flaws. All of the Characteristics possessed by God are positive because he is all good (Wildman, 2008). Nature of Humanity
Our human nature is the characteristics that make up the essence of who we are as people. Human nature is different from personality traits in that one’s personality can be impacted by the culture, environment, race or even gender of the individual. The characteristics that all humans have make up our human nature. Each of these characteristics were given to all humans by God. Our ability to think, feel, and reason separate us from God’s other creations. Because we are made in God’s image, we possess many of the characteristics that God possesses. Although, we are not perfect like God, we have the ability to utilize these characteristics that he gave us. God is love; therefore, we can love Him and each other. God gave
us many positive qualities such as compassion, patience, kindness, and loyalty which are all qualities of God. God made man with the purpose of praising him, bringing forth new generations and teaching them about God, and to appreciate and take care of all God’s other creations, such as the nature, animals, and each other. The characteristics given to us by God help us to fulfill these purposes. God also gives us understanding, so we can not only understand His word and what it means, but to also be understanding with other people. Even if they are not living a Christian lifestyle or are in a backsliding condition we can be loving and understanding with them and help them to get back on track (Diffey & Holland, 2022)

Jesus is the physical representations of God. Jesus is God; therefore, he possesses all the same characteristics of God. He simultaneously exhibited that of the divine and human nature. Jesus is one part of the Holy Trinity: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although God is represented by a Trinity, this does not mean there are three separate Gods; however, there is one true God with two additional depictions of Him: the spiritual depiction through the Holy Spirit and the human depiction through Jesus Christ. Because Jesus is God and possesses all of the same characteristics as God, when he was on earth, he showed an example of how people should act and treat others. Jesus taught people how to pray and how to worship God. He showed compassion, love, faith, and understanding by trusting in God’s plan when God sent Jesus to earth to die for our sins. This was an act of true love. Jesus was compassionate toward those who
did not believe he was the Son of God sent to sacrifice Himself (Wildman, 2008). Restoration
True restoration for humans can be conquered by understanding and following the word of God. Each person should build and maintain a personal relationship with God through prayer and worship. We should have trust in God by trusting in him in every situation and trusting in His plan and in His word. For Christian Salvation there are two important components: grace and
faith. Grace represents the things God does for humanity like when he shows grace by forgiving us for our sins. God is always looking us for us and making sure we have everything we need. Faith is what we show God. This is us giving trust to God. Grace has already been given to us. God does not ask for anything that he does not do first. He asks us to forgive each other, but he is
forgiving. This is represented when he forgives us for our sins no matter how many times we ask. God asks us to love thy neighbor. This means to love everyone you encounter no matter the
5
if they agree with everything that you believe. God loves us no matter what we say or do. Even if
we sin, He loves us unconditionally and with out fail (Gleeson, 2016).
Christian Foundations
There are many benefits and strengths to the Christian belief system. Christians believe that God is the Father who made everyone intentionally and with a purpose, and through Him we can have
eternal life. God is forgiving and he gives us the ability to forgive as well. He sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to be sacrificed to atone for the sins of the world. He is the divine help,
and Christians can put their trust in him. God has a plan for a great future for everyone. Experiencing God is to experience a better world that is full of peace, joy, mercy, justice, and hostility. In a world with God, sin and evil will not prevail (Gleeson, 2016). God is all good. He has a purpose for everyone, and everyone has a vital role to play to fulfill his mission for the world. Through Jesus Christ we can attain everlasting life in Heaven. Jesus is God and He is man. Because he is man, he was able to have a physical death/ sacrifice himself for our sins. Because he is God, He was able to be resurrected and prove to the nonbelievers that He was who He said He was (Diffey & Holland, 2022). Analysis of the Implications of the Christian Worldview
After being in this class, I feel like I have learned a wealth of knowledge regarding worldviews and especially the Christian worldview. The Christian worldview is faith driven which makes it more meaningful. It is admirable, the love that is shared between Christian’s and God/ Jesus. In the Christian worldview, eternal salvation is attained through Jesus Christ who sacrificed His life
to atone for the sins of the world. This act of selfless love gave us the ability to ask for forgiveness for our sins. I used to be a Christian, but I found that my views did not always align with that of Christianity. I still share many of the same values and beliefs of a Christian though.
6
As a former Christian, I still uphold a high level of love and respect for Christians because I know they desperately try to be good and serve the Lord. Christians do not take God’s purpose for them lightly. They strive to worship God and build a strong relationship with him, to have children and teach them the way of the Lord, and to take care of the earth, its creations, and other
people despite it they believe the same way. Two important messages I will take from this class are, to love others the way God loves us and that we all have a purpose (Diffey & Holland, 2022).
Conclusion
Society likes to believe that Christianity is a drop of the bucket when it comes to religion.
However, Christianity is the way of life to attain eternal salvation. Christians choose to obey God
and follow His word because they know he is the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus gave an example of how God wanted us to act when He was on earth. He taught us how to act and pray and build a relationship with God. With that example and His sacrifice we are able to attain everlasting life.
