1. Describe how dispositional attributes related to self- awareness influence the development of a professional mindset. Specifically include the following dispositional attributes: o Honesty and integrity o Positive attitude o Self-confidence o Growth mindset Dispositional attributes related to self-awareness influence the development of a professional mindset. Honesty and integrity are important when developing a professional mindset because people need to be able to trust you. At my current job as a lead preschool teacher/ training for assistant director, I need to be honest and have integrity to manage the employees and ensure the children are safe and learning. When you have honesty and integrity, others will feel comfortable and be able to depend on you when needed. Having a positive attitude is important because everyone will feed off the energy you provide. If you’re stressed and show it on your face, you will affect the other employee in which you work with. In my case, if teachers are stressed and not showing a positive attitude, the children will be affected and will not listen or will also feel the stress. Self-confidence is important to be able to deal with problems that may arise. Being confident makes you more capable to do your job efficiently. If you are confident, you could do more things than you ever imagined. People will admire your confidence in life and will not take you for granted. Having a growth mindset is key to professionalism because if you want to grow and make progress, you must be able to face challenges in a positive manner. People with a fixed mindset believe that they already know what they need to know and feel that if they can’t do something, then they give up. Just having a growth mindset in life will make all the difference to improving your life and the others around you. 2. My BA in Psychology has helped me to develop self-awareness and be able to be adaptive to change. I found out that I have a growth mindset and I am always willing to learn more. This program has helped me to acquire multiple skills that are useful when making change. Being a mother and a preschool teacher has made me more self-aware and inspired to learn and retain information from the psychology program. I now know that when I see something that needs change, I need to stand up and be an advocate for what I feel is right. When the world is constantly changing, communication is very important. 3. Adaptability is crucial in a professional mindset because to thrive, you will need to adapt quickly to changes that can occur. Change is always occurring, and it is important to be kept up to date and have resilience for the changes that are to come. Initiative in a professional mindset is important for moving up or advancing further in life. For example, if there are goals that need to be met, taking initiative will help you get there. Organization is important because if you keep your mind and space organized, you can see your tasks clearer and know what needs to be done to complete goals. When it's go-time, if organized, you can find things quicker and get the job done. Being organized helps create a more positive outlook and encourages professionalism. Self-motivation is critical in a professional mindset because you can make goals and complete them on your own without someone else telling you what to do and bugging you till a task is done. Every job has tasks that need to be completed, so the more self-motivated you are, the more you can complete on your own in a timely manner.
4. My BA Psychology program experience has helped me develop aspects of self-regulation that are important to adaptively manage change and thrive in a rapidly changing world. It helped me to adapt to different life situations because I moved to the mainland from Hawaii. I had a lot of biases and stereotypes about the people here that I removed after taking certain courses. I have an open mind now and I feel more knowledgeable than ever before. I always did have the initiative mindset and was very organized with the tasks in my head and physically. At work, I am always one to move up quickly, get a raise or be promoted based on my initiative, growth mindset, and organizational skills. Aspects of self- regulation is key in life. If you cannot self-regulate your temper, you’d most likely get fired or quit on the spot without giving a two-week notice. When I was in my early teens, I have a rough time self-regulating my emotions and have done that to a few jobs. Now, I can calm myself down, practice self-care, and regulate my emotions. Studying for my BA in psychology has made me a lot wiser and calmer. 5. Describe how dispositional attributes related to social awareness influence the development of a professional mindset. help you to resolve any of those obstacles. To overcome those conflicts, communication and being open-minded will help you get there. Teamwork is crucial in a workplace because no one works alone, unless working from home, alone. If you can work well with others, you can complete tasks together. By working together, you can achieve goals quicker, and it removes a lot of stress. To be a good team member, you must gain their trust by listening, being empathetic, and communicate effectively. Multicultural sensitivity is important because as you meet others from different places with different values, you should be respectful and open-minded even if you don’t agree with their values or life choices. Leadership shows how good you are with other people. To be an effective leader, you must communicate, listen, have empathy, and see a clear goal at the end of a tunnel. You want to be persuasive and get others to follow or agree with you. A good leader gets things done for the people that are following or listening. Not all leaders are good leaders but if you follow those few simple steps, you can’t go wrong. 6. Describe the ways in which your BA Psychology program experience has helped you to develop aspects of social awareness that will enable you to adaptively manage change and thrive in a rapidly changing world. This BA program has helped me develop aspects of my social awareness that enables me to adaptively change and thrive in a rapidly changing world. This program has helped me to remove biases from my everyday communication and taught me to accept everyone as they are. It also helped me to be able to process conflict resolution in a professional manner. I use what I’ve learned from school in my everyday job. Learning about diversity has really stuck in my mind. I noticed that at first, I thought my way was the best way but learned that many people think the same thing and don’t truly care about your way but as long as you show respect, everything will be okay. I started to accept people as they are. At work, I’m training to be a leader after working there for just four months. I am grateful that my bosses see my potential and my leadership qualities as I see it and they are willing to work with me to grow.
