PSYC3210 6 Outside of the participants in this survey, who else might the results be true for? In the language of research, who can the results be generalized to? The results of this study have the possibility to be true to those struggling with mental illness who are not a part of the LGBTQ community. For example, in the discussion, Sutter and Perrin (2016) stated that those who are rejected by people or treated poorly may be at increased risk for depression, anxiety, and even think about suicide. This can be generalized to anyone who may be discriminated against, or treated unfair, whatever the reason maybe. This study could also be generalized to Refugees or asylum seekers who also may or may not be a part of the LGBTQ community. This group of people is usually discriminated against and racial profiled by those who live in the country or place they fled to. With that being said, it is safe to say that there is a possibility the results could be the same for them. 4
