For this discussion I chose to use the article, Misinformation lingers in memory: Failure of three pro-vaccination strategies . Describe their research method. The research method they used was to get a sample of the population by sending email invitations to graduate students from the Universities of Naples and Edinburg (Pluviano, Watt, & Sergio, 2017). They encouraged students to invite other participants and were able to get a sample of 134 participants. All 134 participants were given questionnaires and invited to participate again. Only 120 participants were included in the rest of the study due to drop out and they were given two questionnaires to complete and were put into one of four correction interventions. The first questionnaires were to determine what their current beliefs about vaccinations were, then they were put into one of four correction interventions, and then they took another questionnaire to determine what their beliefs were after receiving the correction interventions. Which method is similar to a method you have studied in your textbook? Support your answer. The method that they are using in this study that is similar to a study in the textbook is pre- experimental design. In a pre-experimental design, the researchers do not use random sampling to gather their participants (Salkind, 2017). Since email were used to gather sample this is not a random. The study did not mention participants being randomly assigned to groups for the correction interventions or the control groups. What limitations were there to the study? The biggest limitation to this study is the researchers not using random sampling to gather their participants. Since the study was not random the researchers did not have control over the variables, and this can lead to weak results that are not representative of a population being studied. o Cite and reference your source.
