According to section 2.01b, the knowledge and understanding of the client’s factors, such as national origin, culture, and disability, are recognized to acquire the competence of services and provide appropriate referrals (American Psychological Association, 2017 Principle E acknowledges that the rights and dignity of a client are to be respected and protected by providing all individuals, including those with diverse cultural backgrounds, to be valued and worthy of rights as a person. These rights include their privacy, confidentiality, and self-determination to succeed in life regardless of culture, national origin, faith or belief system, sexual preference, disability, language, or class (American Psychological Association, 2017). Psychologists explore to further accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness in every avenue of psychology. Psychologists do not deceive or act in deceit in any way which includes lying or any mischaracterization of truth. They aspire to keep their promises and circumvent any agreements or commitments which might be speculative. At times which it is justifiable to maximize benefits and minimize harm, psychologists must take into consideration any issues of harmful effects or mistrust that result from speculative techniques (APA, General Principle C, 2017).

According to Waterman, Langley, Miranda & Riley (2018), this approach enhances standard psychotherapy techniques and factors in the trauma and child’s history within their adoption to better intervene and help the child. This therapy protocol would be a great benefit for Chen and provide a connection and better understanding of her cognitive state to Chen’s parents and Chen’s teacher.
