Ds 4241 unit 3 There may be confusion between the definitions of fear, anxiety, and phobias. It's critical for those who think they could have phobias or anxieties to comprehend the differences. Unlike fear, which is a normal emotional reaction that signals the body to take appropriate action to protect itself from danger when faced with real and immediate danger, people with phobias experience excessive fear or anxiety related to specific objects and avoid situations where they might encounter them. Phobias primarily interfere with or create discomfort due to avoidance behaviors and the anxiety response that arises when one is confronted with the situation or thing that one fears. As stated by Bacsi (2022). Social mores, beliefs, and conventions that can be categorized as acceptable or pathological conduct exist in every society. However, "normal behavior" refers to what individuals should anticipate from themselves. Individuals usually act in ways that conform to social standards while interacting with others. Conduct is deemed normal when it conforms to certain norms and fits the individual. Considering this, imagine the scenario in which a customer yells at a paid counter because the cashier is taking too long. What the guy was doing wouldn't seem strange or insane to you. The reason for this is that we consider it to be standard human behavior that establishes expectations for appropriate conduct. As long as people follow these, it is assumed that they are functioning properly. Administration, 2015). An identifiable pattern of conduct that deviates from the norm is referred to as "abnormal behavior" by the general population. given the Diagnostic Statistical Manual, aberrant behavior is defined as behavior, mood, or cognitive dysfunction that is not expected given the individual's cultural context and is associated with significant functional impairment and psychological distress. This justification explains why popular perceptions about people who are viewed as abnormal are inaccurate. References: Admin. (2015). Difference between normal and abnormal behavior.
