When toddlers engage in baking activities, they are demonstrating a range of important developmental skills. Firstly, baking promotes fine motor skills as they pour, mix, and stir ingredients. These actions enhance hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity. Secondly, baking encourages cognitive development as toddlers follow simple instructions, learn about measurement, and witness the transformation of ingredients into something delicious. It also fosters their creativity as they can explore different shapes and
decorations. Additionally, baking offers opportunities for social interaction and communication, as children can work together in pairs or small groups, sharing tasks and collaborating on a shared goal. Incorporating baking into the toddler room at the daycare center is highly beneficial as it offers a multi-dimensional learning experience that encompasses cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development. Moreover, it creates a sense of achievement and builds their self- confidence, making them more independent and responsible. It also provides a fun and enjoyable way for toddlers to express themselves, cultivate a sense of community, and create lasting memories with their peers and educators.
