DISCUSSION QUESTION 2 Discussion question How social media contributes to Personality Disorders Recent studies have shown that, excessive use of the social media platforms can lead to narcissistic personality disorders. This occurs because, whether on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, our social media personas are very different from who we truly are (Aamir, 2019). In a study by W. Keith Campbell that was published in the August 2008 issue of Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 156 student Facebook users were selected, and it was discovered that the more active a person is on social media, the more narcissistic traits are present in them (Aamir, 2019). These data have convinced me that social media contributes to personality disorders. In my opinion, it is not always true for all personality disorders, as some of them may be brought on by drug and alcohol misuse. Drug misuse and social media have the power to distract us from reality. Many drug users frequently claim that they sometimes need to make extra efforts to keep grounded, stay in touch with reality and the real world and present themselves as successful even though they are not. Mental Stigma I would assert that the prevalence of mental illness is the root of all negative stigmas. People who are stigmatized feel shame for events that are out of their control. What is worse is that stigma prevents them from receiving the necessary support. It is wrong to add stigmatization to the misery of people who already have a heavy burden (Greenstein, 2017). Additionally, although stigma has decreased recently, the rate of development has not been fast enough. Therefore, fighting any hostile energy directed at the victim is critical. In theory, doing so aids in stabilizing their psychological health. I would explain the need to preserve a psychologically stable society and assist the victims rather than projecting negative energy at them to someone
DISCUSSION QUESTION 3 who perpetuates a stigma against mental illness (Greenstein, 2017). Other strategies for reducing mental stigma include choosing victim empowerment over victim shame, being open and honest with others and yourself about your therapy, and dismantling self-stigma.
