What would you do if you were providing a psychological test to a counseling client and an issue arose in which your ethics conflicted with the established state and federal laws and codes of ethics? Provide an example to support your response. If I were providing a psychological test to a counseling client and an issue arose in which my personal ethics were in conflict with the established state and/or federal laws and/or code of ethics, I would initially seek counseling and supervision to ensure that I am not letting my own values and beliefs get in the way of my professional obligations to the client (ACA, 2014). I feel like in instances where my personal ethics collide with any of my duties as a counselor, I will ultimately have to seek supervision from a trusted supervisor and use the code of ethics as a guide to help me put my personal values aside and ensure that the client is getting the care that they need.
