Among the positive symptoms my mother has exhibited are delusions and hallucinations. She has expressed seeing things and hearing voices that are not there, resulting in discomfort and confusion. The delusions have made her maintain ideas that are not grounded in facts, resulting in rigid associations and challenges in determining a common comprehension of society. Seeing what she is going through has been profoundly disturbing for me, as well as the rest of the family members, as we strive to understand the scope of her suffering. Furthermore, my mother has displayed negative symptoms like a decrease in motivation, decreased emotional expression, and social withdrawal. It is evident that these symptoms have constricted her potential to take part in daily undertakings, chase personal dreams, and keep relationships. There has been a persistent feeling of worry and uncertainty concerning my mother's well-being, which is draining us emotionally. The nature of the family has endured great transformations as we seek to offer the understanding and assistance that my mother requires while also fostering our own well-being. Due to the diagnosis, the family has made various changes. First, we have searched for information concerning the condition to better comprehend it and its various effects. The knowledge we gained assisted us in developing compassion and empathy and, at the same time
aiding us with several strategies to foster the recovery process. We have jointly taken part in family therapy to develop health boundaries, enhance communication, and come up with coping mechanisms. In order to accommodate the needs of my mother, we have made changes to our day-to-day schedules. In addition, we have developed a calm and safe surrounding and lowered triggers and stressors that may intensify her symptoms. I have also motivated my mother to take part in therapeutic practices like physical exercise, mindfulness engagements, and art therapy because they have proven to be effective in enhancing general well-being.
