Hello Victoria,
I do agree that statesmanship plays a pivotal role in public administration reform. With advancements in
technology, reform is something that is not an easy task because you may make changes that work for a
day, a month, or a year, but you might have to bring in new reform later on down the line. This is what
makes the task very hard to complete because you never know when or what type of reform is going to
be needed. This is why statesmanship is vital because you need a person in charge that is going to put
others first with reform before putting themselves and the benefit on specific reforms that will help
them.
A challenge with reform that could come up in the “red tape” that happens in government whenever
something needs to be changed. “Red tape, organizational disfunctions, inefficiency, irresponsible
spending, and other administrative failures have challenged and are still challenging societies worldwide
to various degrees. It is not surprising, therefore, that administrative reform has always been on the
agenda of governments” (Cohen, 2022). Reform is not an easy task in public administration and there are
new challenges that could arise every day. The first one being technology because it is a constant change
and government, and organizations need to be able to adapt and predict what type of changes will be
happening in the future. Another problem that could arise is you are not able to predict the future so
you are not sure what type of changes might be needed or how you could prepare for these types of
changes that might arise.
The Bible tells us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV). To me this means that change is doing to happen no matter how much we do not
want it to happen and that everything happens according to God’s plan. Change is doing to happen when
it is needed and it could benefit us so we need to trust in God and what He has for us in store.
Overall, I think you did a great job on this post!
