Helmer1 Peyton Helmer Crowl Govt- 2305 29 September 2023 Refugee Delema The Government in the United States has been facing multiple refugee issues, including a stream of Ukrainians, Afghans, and people crossing the American Border. After reflecting on the first part of We the People , it becomes clear the approach that the United States government needs to take to address these issues. With that being introduced the United States needs to adopt a compassionate and comprehensive approach towards these challenges. American political culture guides my response toward the values of liberty, equality, and justice that continue to be ingrained in our society today, even though these core values continue to be presented, “These core values have not been equally applied over time” (Ginsberg 111). Most citizens continue to abide by these values, although American political systems continue to have undemocratic traditions like racism and nativism that continue to provide the view that “American political culture allows a deeper understanding of how far this nation has come and the challenges that still lie ahead” (Ginsberg 112). The U.S. Constitution serves to this day as a policy-making foundation. When dealing with refugees the government must adhere to constitutional principles, respecting due process rights and protecting against deportation. Many believe the United States needs to bring to light a comprehensive approach toward deportation and allow pooling to take place, to see the opinions of the citizens in our country when deciding what to do with these major refugee issues. Refugees are a major issue in the U.S. due to their language barriers and the differences within
Helmer2 our cultures. The United States deports foreigners because of actions taken regarding immigration laws, many people work very hard to get into the U.S. to live somewhere they feel safe and secure unlike the countries they have come from, and make sure they never ruin their opportunities, we take deportation into action because of criminal acts that violate immigration laws. It's my conviction that the Government should take a comprehensive approach towards refugees and deportation due to the number of disagreements that the country has on deporting foreigners, and letting citizens host a Poole on what they believe should happen will give better insight for the government and allow people to feel heard. Federalism plays a role in establishing refugee issues, between federal agencies and state government immigration, I believe local communities should be involved in decision-making processes enabling the ability to ensure useful integration. Civil liberties must be safeguarded throughout this process, Refugees should not face discrimination based on their nationality or religion. It becomes vitally important that their rights to freedom of speech, religion, and assembly are protected. I am of the opinion that civil rights must be upheld for all individuals within our borders, including providing education opportunities for refugee children and prompting employment prospects for adults. As previously stated, multiple refugees require an approach that considers American political culture, the U.S. Constitution, federalism, civil liberties, and civil rights. The Government within the United States proceeds to face multiple refugee issues, as I have argued throughout this text, based on this evidence I conclude that a comprehensive and compassionate approach will introduce the United States to a clearer and more approachable impact towards these problems.
