1923 Darlington by-election The 1923 Darlington by-election was a by-election held on 28 February 1923 for the British House of Commonalty constituency of Darlington in County Durham. Vacancy The place had get vacant when the a Conservative Penis of Fantan (MP), Herbert Pease was raised, to the peerage equally Tycoon Daryngton. Helium had held the place since the Dec 1910 cosmopolitan election. Electoral history Candidates William Pease, who had non antecedently contested a parliamentary election, stood for the Conservatives. The Labor Party prospect was W.J. Sherwood, who had also fought the seat inwards 1922, having contested The Hartlepools inward 1918. Termination On a slightly rock-bottom turnout, Pease won the sit with a well-to-do majority. Aftermath Sherwood stood again astatine the cosmopolitan election inward Dec 1923, losing again to Pease. Pease held the seat until his demise inward 1926.
