PHL 218 The difference between professional ethics and global ethics is that professional ethics is principals and regulations specific to a profession to ensure those professions are safe and ethical to whom they are providing services to, and global ethics is a declaration or resolution conquered worldwide. Professional ethics for example is a guide for the moral codes of a doctor to ensure their patients providing safety and privacy to their health. Global ethics for example, Global ethical frameworks are needed to resolve issues and address some of the issues going on in the world. If we didn’t have common moral values or ethical standards there would be chaos and no world order. It is imperative that we have some standard grounds to keep the world as peaceful as possible regardless of religion or beliefs. If we globally take on the same goals, we will see a bigger impact on what we are all trying to accomplish. To try to take control of climate change, world leaders at the UN Climate change Conference in Paris reached an agreement on the Paris agreement. It is a globally agreed ethical principle for decision-making and policy making to help eliminate climate change. They have 6 principals: 1. Prevention of harm 2. Precautionary approach 3. Justice & equity 4. Sustainable development 5. Solidarity 6. Scientific knowledge & integrity in decision making. Benefits of using an ethical framework in the global management of climate change and using the 6 principals to commit the states and European Union to achieve the same goals to reduce their greenhouse emissions in the Paris Agreement. If they globally tackle green emissions and show the world that what they are doing is working, more will follow if they see the results within climate change. The most important thing about having a global ethical framework is for everyone to chip in so we can have a livable future on earth for generations to come. With the amount of damage already being done, we need structure for countries to understand the risks and a plan to take action all
together. Each country in the Paris Agreement has their own tailored commitment to limit their emissions or limit waste and have a plan to keep track of their progress. ActNow is a campaign to inspire people to achieve the 17 sustainable development goals to provide cleaner air, safer cities, equality & better jobs to create the life we want together. If each of us do our parts globally, I don’t see why we can’t achieve that for generations to come. Work cited Declaration of Ethical Principles in relation to Climate Change . (2023, September 11).
