GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 1 Grant Funding and Ethics Natasha Delgado Grant Writing Basics: PBAD301 Professor: Lydia Portee December 18th, 2023
GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 2 Grant Funding and Ethics o Describe the agency/organization: 24-hour Youth organization against Human Trafficking o Identify your position:  Director o Describe the particular need /Statement of need: To have the local community and the Arizona Human Trafficking Council help develop recommendations to provide human trafficking victims with appropriate services; fostering greater collaboration among law enforcement, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and the community at large; and promoting public awareness about human trafficking, victimizations everywhere in the state of Arizona . Arizona currently has 1,000 open missing children’s cases, most of them are girls and more than half of them are from this year alone. o Outline of your proposal. General description:  The   National Human Trafficking Hotline   (NHTH) is one of the nation’s greatest resources for combating the human trafficking issue. Since its inception, NHTH has identified 1611 human trafficking cases. In these cases, 3906 victims were identified. In 2020, this hotline received 608 incident reports from Arizona. (HTcourts.org, N.D.). Between 2007 and 2009, the United States experienced the Great
GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 3 Recession, the country’s greatest stock market drops since the 1930’s. As a result, Arizona suffered a huge increase in homelessness, resulting in an increase in human trafficking activity. Arizona State University (ASU) performed a statewide survey of 89 individuals aged 8 to 25 and discovered that one out of three homeless people had been a victim of human or sex trafficking. There are many reasons that contribute to Arizona’s high incidence of human trafficking. However, Covid-19 has been the primary problem in recent years. 2.       Some of the goals:    To create more 24-hour crisis facilities/local organizations that will help identify, create programs, and train individuals within the community to fight against human trafficking. Coordinate prompt treatment for all youths in child welfare custody who are suspected or confirmed victims of sex trafficking in Arizona, establish communication channels between all stakeholders involved with the child, increase capacity for responding to trafficking victims throughout Arizona and gathering data and trends to better understand the unique experiences of trafficked children and using this information to develop solutions. 3.       Objectives:  To create 24-hour crisis programs within the community that can provide the services and help those individuals

GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 4 that have been victims of human trafficking as well as training to identify the victim or possible victim. 4.       Tasks:  A) To provide human trafficking victims with the appropriate services and treatment that they will be needing. B) to create and expand resources not only throughout the community but also in the state of Arizona to help the victims. C) Emphasized the need for a specialist treatment court for victims of human trafficking. Organizational capabilities and management plan relates to the organization’s capacity to deliver the project as well as the management strategy for the project. This covers things like the organization’s previous experience with similar initiatives, financial stability, and capacity to access the required resources. The grantor will examine the organization’s capacity to deliver the project as well as the project management strategy. The organization’s previous experience with comparable initiatives is critical in establishing its capacity to complete the project. The financial stability of the organization is critical in proving its capacity to obtain the required resources. The capacity of the organization to acquire the required resources is critical in proving its ability to complete the project. A description of the project’s aims and objectives, a completion timetable, and a budget should all be included in the management plan. The management plan is an important part of the grant submission since it shows the organization’s ability to complete the project. A section on the organization’s evaluation strategy should also be included in the
GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 5 funding submission. The assessment strategy should detail how the organization will assess the project’s success. The assessment strategy is essential for proving the organizations dedication to accountability and continual development. The organizational capabilities and management plan are significant because they show the funding agency that the company is ready to carry out and manage the project efficiently. This can influence whether the group obtains funds. Program narrative/ Project description portion of many state and federal applications represents a section containing the logic model, project narrative (this section includes the goals and objectives, implementation activities, timeline, and evaluation. (Coley, S., Scheinberg, C., Strekalova, Y., N.D.). The program narrative, also known as the project description, is an important portion of the proposal that gives information about the proposed project or program, such as its purpose, aims, and projected outcomes. This portion of the proposal is critical in convincing the funding agency that the proposed project is worthwhile and likely to succeed. It is critical to remember the following points while developing the program narrative: the program narrative should be clear, simple, and easy to grasp for the reader. This section allows you to bring more detail into the narrative including the rationale for program and staffing levels, for example, than in any other section of the proposal. The project narrative describes planned activities in detail sufficient for the reviews to get a clear picture of what, when, how, and by whom will be done. (Coley, S., Scheinberg, C., Strekalova, Y., N.D.). Following these guidelines will assist to guarantee that the program story is an effective and persuasive component of the
GRANT FUNDING AND ETHICS 6 grant submission. The program narrative is an essential component of a grant proposal since it informs the reader about the proposed project and its objectives. Three grant programs that I found that will help with this organization are FY 24 Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Demonstration Program (Opportunity number #HHS-2024-ACF-ACYF-CY-058), the estimated total program funding is $1,750.00 and the award ceiling is $350,000 and award floor is $250,000, this grant supports communities and organization that work to help end youth homelessness. Their goal is to identify young people who are at risk of experiencing homelessness, created a community-based plan to prevent youth homelessness. The Youth Homelessness System (Funding Opportunity Number FR-6700-N-96, the estimated total program funding is $50,000.00 and the award ceiling is $2,000.00, and award floor is $200,000. This grant supports certain communities to help develop and implement systems infrastructure to address youth homelessness. The objectives of this funding are to improve the capacity of youth in the community, developing peer support models, including training, project design, and implementation, creating Youth Action Board training, including government rules, leadership and other skills; community training and outreach on how to work with youth and integrate youth leadership in an authentic way.
