1.Of the types of organizational cultures discussed in Chapter 14, which would you most like to work within? Which would you least like to work within? Explain your answer.
I would work best with a people-oriented culture. I enjoy talking to people and networking. I love to have conversations that help build and develop new company ideas. The environment that I would least likely grow and develop it would be an aggressive one. I don’t like to have a confrontation that is not fundamental to the business.
2. What are the pros and cons of hiring outside consultants to design change projects? Chapter 15 mentions that failing to assign this responsibility to managers inside an organization prevents managers from fully embracing changes and weakens their ability to implement them, but what other obstacles to change acceptance and implementation might outside consultants create in an organization?
The pros of hiring outside consultants are that you can get an outside perspective of new ways to change the business. It gives the ability for the supervisors to learn new techniques that otherwise wouldn’t have been learned. The cons of doing so are that the supervisors and upper management are left to learn and possibly new ways of teaching their employees. There could also be a miscommunication delay between the consultants and the management team. It could lead to improper training.
