In today's society, religion plays several functions. First, for most, religion creates
meaning and purpose in life. It strengthens social unity and stability. Religion educates people's
moral behavior and helps them learn how to be good.
Religious faith and practice can enhance
the psychological well-being of people. Lastly, it may influence people to work for a positive
social change.
At GCU's, many diverse students have different religions and beliefs. GCU's Christian
heritage builds its academic experience by integrating faith and learning by promoting value-
based education, emphasizing community services, providing opportunities for spiritual
growth, and developing a supportive environment.
This general approach to education
prepares students for their careers and roles as compassionate and benevolent members of
society.
Being born into a religious country in the Philippines and attending a Catholic
university has significantly impacted my life. There are significant differences between a faith-
based university and a non-faith-based university. When I attended a non-faith-based
university, I felt like I was just in limbo and that I was going daily with no purpose. Whereas
when I attended a faith-based university, I found the purpose in my life goals and career. This
will give me the ability to have knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.
