Name: Myracle Samuelu Course: University Success Date: 10.17.23 Instructor: Dr. Synovia UNV-103 Topic 7 Ensuring Future Success Reflection During the past few weeks, you have had the opportunity to develop a plan for success as a student here at GCU and beyond graduation. Revisit your academic, spiritual, and career goals from the Topic 4 Purpose Plan assignment and complete the following prompts directly on this document—the boxes will expand as needed. Review the Career Connections/Purpose Plan tutorial from Topic 4 for a reminder about the importance of the Purpose Plan for your career, academic and spiritual progress here at GCU. Part 1: Academic and Spiritual Plan Goals Based on your review of the Topic 4 assignment, in 75-100 words total, describe what three action steps you will need to take to achieve your academic plan goals. 1 To start off, I will definitely say that staying consistent in going to class is major for me to be successful. I feel like missing any classes at all, this will cause nothing but stress for me, and as an over-thinker, attending class provides me a peace of mind that I have received all the information I need to complete my assignments and get through the class. 2 Another thing for me is not procrastinating. I think that this is something that can really hurt my academic success in achieving my goals and can really hurt me. So, keeping procrastination out of sight and out of mind will be a huge help to my success of achieving the academic goals I have set for myself. 3 Lastly, I would say that using the resources provided to me by Grand Canyon is a great way to get me to achieve my academic goals. Using the ACE centers and tutors, etc. for any help at all or any double checks on assignments will do nothing but set me up for success. I think that this is something super important to take advantage of, especially because of how hard it is to continue through the courses given to us. Based on your review of the Topic 4 assignment, in 75-100 words total, describe what three action steps you will need to take to achieve your spiritual plan goals. 1 A big thing that I really started off with for spiritual growth was to attend spiritual transformation. This is helping me really start my walk with God and is keeping me disciplined to reading my word and understanding the information I get from it 2 With attending spiritual formation, also getting myself to go to the worship nights has been huge for me. I absolutely love praise and worship and feel that it allows me to really connect with God and give him thanks through it as well for all he has done for me. 3 Lastly, I can say that getting involved is my final factor to achieving my spiritual goals. Joining clubs and organizations that global outreach provides me, to be able to share Gods love that I experience with others is such a blessing in disguise. Describe HOW you will know you are achieving your academic and spiritual plan goals. (50-100 words total) 1. Academic Plan Goals - I think for me, I will know when achieving my academic goals when I have that degree in my hand. That right there shows that really did do it and got through all the adversity faced while trying to get there.
2. Spiritual Plan Goals – I can say that I will know when I’ve achieved my spiritual goal when I am faithfully reading my word, and not forcing anything spiritual like. When I am serving in all different kinds of ways, and faithfully doing things to serve God, without the thought or feeling that it is being forced. Part 2: Career Goals and Your Career Connections Profile Career Connections is one of the primary systems you will use during your time at Grand Canyon University to help you navigate and carry out your academic, career, and spiritual success plans. One of the key features of the system is to have a published profile. It is important that your profile remains published throughout your time at GCU. Maintaining a published profile showcases your knowledge and skills to potential employers. Documenting skills gained during your academic experience will support the achievement of career goals. During your tenure at GCU, you will have opportunities to participate in student leadership, internships, research, project-based learning, etc., which provide you with the experience to be a competitive candidate in your chosen career. Keep in mind that you can modify your profile regularly to keep it current to new knowledge and skills obtained. Assignment Instructions : Review the “How to make a Public Profile” section of the Navigating Career Connections tutorial completed in Topic 4 (https://launch.comevo.com/gcu- academic/4398). Use your GCU credentials to login. Publish your profile. Answer the following questions in the box below: What employment industry is of interest to you as a career option? What sections of the profile would be ideal to update to best showcase your relevant skills and experience? Copy and paste a screenshot of your published profile in the box below. Please visit https://support.gcu.edu/hc/en-us/articles/201213244-Taking-a-Screenshot for assistance on taking a screenshot. With your profile published, it is now time to enlarge your career focus. Stop by an ACE Center or schedule an appointment through Career Connections to build your search strategy for internships, career, and graduate school opportunities. The employment industry that interests me the most is a marketing agent. I would say that the best section in which showcases my relevant skills and experiences is my skills and recent job section of the profile.
