This site has been created to explain why it is important to
integrate technology into
our instruction and classrooms.
I, personally, believe that technology in the classroom is important,
especially in a special education classroom. I have seen how non
verbal children use technology to communicate their needs. The
use of new technology keeps up with the times of our world and it
is important that we prepare the students for the world they will be
living in.

DreamBox: DreamBox is an adaptive online K–8 math program that assesses and advances math and reading
learning.
“DreamBox Math and Reading programs empower students to take ownership of their
learning. They can get started with personalized instruction in just minutes and independently work through the content with as much or as little guidance as they need. Each program sets up a range of
appropriate parameters for learning and then encourages students to explore the content that interests them without limitations on how they experience learning.”
䚔
Kidblog: Allows students to publish journal entries in a teacher-moderated, nonpublic environment and allows them to amplify their blogs with photos, audio, and videos. Kids write
their own posts and then can respond and comment on their own to other posts from their own classroom.

Speechify – this technology helps students who have disabilities access the learning content. The program reads to the students which will help those with difficulties in reading.
This allows them to hear the information or have test questions read to them without the hindrance of their disability.
䚔
Dragon- This is a speech recognition software that helps students with writing. The student can speak what they are trying to write and the program will write it for them. This allows
them to do their assignments independently
and without the frustration of trying to write when they find writing difficult. They can use the above technology to read them the
assignment and use Dragon to answer the questions without needing any of the classroom aides or teacher to be by their side to get the work done.
